Please consider volunteering your time at one event throughout the year -- more if you are able.  There are endless possibilities in ways you can help, and whatever your level of availability, the PTO always appreciates parent volunteers, as do the teachers and staff!  Keep in mind that by volunteering, you will get to enjoy interacting with the children, become friends with other parents, and accomplish things that truly make a difference.

Hillcrest PTO currently has the following volunteer opportunities:


Volunteer Coordinator:  We have openings for volunteers in the classrooms, at-home projects, and many other opportunities.  For more information about these volunteer opportunities, please visit this Help Wanted page.


Kids' Night Out:  This is a monthly movie night for Hillcrest students to attend and spend time with their friends.  responsibilities include sending out pre-registration forms, compiling them, and working the evening of the event. 
 

Book Fair: The Spring Book Fair takes place April 16-20, 2012. It is 5 days long and is a great way to show your support for kids reading.  The planning has begun and we could use another Chair Person to help out.  We also need help for set-up, reading stories during the school day, helping students fill out wish lists, running registers, and taking everything down at the end of the fair.

 
Family Nights:  This would involve arranging for a family night at Hillcrest (last year it was a craft night), as well as off-site get-togethers (last year it was two Scoopie Nights at Culver's in Antioch).
 

 
Pancake Breakfast:  The pancake breakfast takes place in December.   It is a big event that brings the Hillcrest community together.  It is broken into four different parts for chairing  (1) General planning & Running the Kitchen // (2) Holiday Shop // (3) Pictures with Santa // (4) Vendor Fair.
 

 
Staff Appreciation:  This includes arranging for a dinner for teachers during November conferences, as well as events during Teacher Appreciation Week in May.

 
Fun Fair:  This is a fun event in the spring.  Because this event is so large, it is divided into four areas (1) Planning & Volunteer Coordination // (2) Food // (3) Auction // (4) Prizes

 
Plant Sale:  In the spring, the District 34 PTOs sell a wide variety of flowers and plants.  The chairperson of this would be responsible for compiling orders and helping on the day the flowers are to be picked up.

 
Field Day:  At the end of the year, the PE teachers arrange for a day of fun activities for students.  A PTO representative is needed to arrange for rental of equipment.
